Hi,
I'm just wondering if with CFD limited by the rules, some teams could use some less computationally expensive panel methods to do some CFD computation.
If I am not mistaken, they are mostly for inviscid flows?
While the Re may be of the order of 10^6, the modelling of viscous dissipation is still crucial for the vortices and their location. They may use it as first step.
Alternately, there are options to a do FMG in Fluent, where the mesh size is progressively decreased to obtain a converged inviscid solution and then interpolated to denser meshes to obtain a "starting solution". So as a first guess, these methods serve well.
